A West Sussex garden built around curved brick beds, a woven fence and a garden room.

The garden

The raised beds give the garden a natural flow and divide the garden into different areas. Built in London Stock brick, they bring warmth to the space. The garden room, designed and built with Long Reach Design, sits among the planting in the beds.

The raised pond is built with paddlestone walls and a coping stone on top, and so are the steps beside it. Their irregular shapes sit well with the limestone paving, adding rustic character to a modern, tidy design.

The woven fence, from The Coppiced Wood Company, makes a natural backdrop for the planting. Flowering shrubs and perennials were chosen to suit the conditions, with shade-loving plants under the trees and sun-loving plants elsewhere, to keep the garden vibrant.

The result brings biodiversity into an urban space: contemporary hard landscaping, softened by planting. It is a calm place to spend time.

Deciding on a full garden landscape design for our terraced house in Shoreham wasn't taken lightly but we needn't have worried because we were always in the safe hands of Naomi and Lucy at Sussex Garden Design Studio who were considerably supportive throughout each and every stage of the process.
