Seaside Garden, Shoreham Beach
A contemporary garden that links to the coast, with boulders, a gravel garden of self-seeding perennials and a pergola for dining.
The garden
This garden was a blank canvas, and the design links it to the coast around it. Raised borders of colourful perennials frame the space. In the centre, a gravel garden sits among stone boulders, planted with flowering perennials that are encouraged to self-seed into the surrounding beach pebbles.
The aim was somewhere to relax, with a sense of enclosure. Olive trees around the boundary give privacy, and a contemporary pergola, made from old marine timber, defines a decked area for dining and relaxing, adding height and structure to the layout. A bespoke swing seat hangs beneath it, a place to settle into. Naturally weathered and reclaimed timber is used throughout, bringing texture and character.
Naomi took my rather vague ideas and designed my dream 'Beach Garden'. Then Lucy took the design and turned it into reality. They kept me informed at every stage and were always available to speak to me. They are very nice easy going people to work with and I am absolutely delighted with my garden. Naomi has just finished a maintenance visit which I found very useful. I really cannot thank them enough for my beautiful garden and I have no hesitation in recommending them.
