Courtyard Garden, Hastings
A small Hastings courtyard planted with exotic foliage, with an outdoor kitchen and herb wall for cooking and socialising.
Design visualThe garden
The vision for this small garden was a warm, inviting space. The client wanted exotic plants in the planting scheme, and the courtyard microclimate suits tender plants by offering protection from frost.
Different materials sit alongside foliage to balance softness and light. The planting is mostly foliage, in shades and textures of green that give a deepening effect, with dahlias and hibiscus adding pockets of colour against the leafy backdrop.
Socialising and cooking mattered to the client, so an outdoor kitchen area and a herb wall are a practical, and fun, part of the design.
