Lightwell Gardens, King’s Cross
A series of self-contained lightwell courtyards in a contemporary home in the heart of London, at King’s Cross, with lush foliage and hidden lighting.

The brief was to create a series of designs for a number of self-contained lightwell courtyards within a contemporary home. The lightwells are a unique feature of the property, and set against the striking architecture they needed new layouts, bold planting and carefully chosen materials to suit the interior.
Lighting is part of the design of each lightwell, with spotlights hidden within the planting and uplighting for the new structural features, giving each space an uplifting atmosphere.
Black zinc and poured concrete sit against a palette of lush, evergreen foliage and pops of bright flowers, echoing the style of the house. Each small footprint is used well, with clever detailing and bespoke furniture, to make inviting spaces for entertaining and relaxing.
